Please can somebody help, this is driving me mad.I am having difficulty downloading from Imesh and Kaaza at speeds faster than 2kb/s even though I use a 1mb broadband connection.I use a laptop with 13 gb of free space, and a 2gb processor.I am wondering if people uploading from my computer has any affect on my download speed, or my CPU usage ,which always seems to be between 60 and 100 %.

If your CPU usage is that high there is surely something wrong. Try stopping some not needed processes first and you should find that your computer will run faster, also try freeing up a bit of space by removing not needed programs. When your computer has finished its diet you should find that your downloads speed up a slight bit aswell. People uploading from you in kazaa DOES slow your connection down immensly, so unless you want them slowing down your connection speed, disable file sharing. Hope that helps
also, most file sharers throttle the available bandwidth, so if the file u want not got many owners it will be slow.

Thanks Wizard & Xyzzy.I did think of shutting down some of the processes, but there is usuaully about 30 of them running ,and I do not know what most of them are.I cant stop file sharing on Kaaza because my downloading ability is based on what my priority level is,which in turn is based on how many uploads I get.I did actually close Kazaa down to see what would happen to the downloading speed of Imesh, and the speed dramatically increased, and the CPU usage also dropped to 30%.It looks as though I will have to stick with Imesh for now.At least with Imesh I can free up some space by deleting files after I have burned them to disc.
try Winmx (popular) p2p its free no adware or spyware http://www.winmx.com/
