I was scared of The Hulk and for some very strange reason The Burmuda Triangle (had never been on a plane until I was a teenager).

Im the same ruby & sam... I have to have at least a sheet over me to sleep, i've always been the same. i feel too exposed. When i was younger i used to feel open to attack by someone/something and nothing to quickly hide underneath...

But also now, its just not snuggly enough without something to tuck up under your chin...

When i was young i was absolutely terrifed of bridges! especially ones with the little gaps in between (think it stems from the Billy Goats Gruff story) I always thought i would fall through the cracks!! My brothers used to jump up and down on bridges making them bounce and i used to scream in tears and had to be carried across! i still get nervous going over them, my legs go weak! even ones where i'm in a car!

I'm also scared of the big wheel! i love any other fun fair rides though!! crazy!!
I saw Ken Dodd in pantomime when I was young, everything was fine until the sing-along bit with the words written on a sheet, then he scared the hell out of me.I've never worked out why.

Escalators scared the cr*p out of me when I was a kid - I always thought I would be sucked under the metal plate at the end if I didn't get off in time!

caz21 - wooden slatted bridges scared the life out of me too and I think it might have been something to do with the Billy Goats Gruff and the troll which lived under the bridge! I always ran over the bridge near my house as fast as I possibly could and didn't stop till I was a safe distance away!

Clowns also gave me the heebie-jeebies! In fact, they still do. And people in costumes (like at Disney World with a big Goofy head on) really freak me out. Don't know what it is about them. And an old schoolfriend of mine HATED the oompa-loompahs from the original 70s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory film. She refused to watch the film and if you started to sing their song, she would cry!! :o)

I was scared of `Raggety` who was a puppet in Rupert the Bear (in the 70`s), plus the Micheal Bentines Potty Time puppets scared me too.
Morph and Tales of the unexpected title music and cows. I still cry at the thought of all these things.

i was scared of mask's, my brothers would jump on me in the middle of the night and say they were going to eat me! obviously i didnt know it was them at the time!!!

anyway....... still scared of mask's now!!

Wurzel Gummidge changing his head terrified me, I feel a bit funny even thinking about it now!

I was also terrified of being blamed for something that wasn't my fault at school. If the teacher asked who it was I would go bright red and panic in case they thought it was me, obviously this made me look completely guilty so I blushed even more.

I was scared of putting my hand down the side of the bed as I thought snakes lived down there. I was scared of dogs too - still am really!
DOOR HANDLES.

When I used to sleep over at my friends, I'd not be able to get to sleep and I remember seeing door handes, 2 screws as it's eyes and the handle as its nose. lol.

There were a lot of old dolls in my house. One doll which moved its head in a weird way and made some really weird sound. I was winding it up once and I touched its head, it went mental and scared the **** out of me cos it's head started spinning really fast.

Good post idea this :P

i used to be scared of those brush things that are for holding your teatowels in.

and i always used to tuck the covers under my feet to stop anyone/thing crawling under the covers, and for years i slept with a snood over my ears to stop insects getting in them

I remember being genuinely petrified of those sit-on lawnmowers they had in the park. I just wanted to be picked up if one was near and not be on the ground!

There was no escape at home either, as my older brother would say "the machine's coming to get you", just to see my fat little legs toddling off to Mum!

When I was little, I was afraid to stick my feet under the television cabinet, because the sound of static made me think there were snakes living in it, that would bite my ankles if I stuck my feet under there. Of course, that was back in the days of only three channels, and they signed off after the local news... then it was "high flight", and the national anthem, and then static... and I have always thought that static looked like bees in a beehive, too.

Crikey, where to start?

When I was little I hated, and still do, ventriloquist dummies, went on holiday to Kent and a kid sat opposite me all the way with one of those with ginger hair, I couldn't keep my eyes off it and was a wreck by the time we got there.

Dr Who, the classic watching from behind the settee or a cushion.

The toilet flushing, ours had a long chain so could almost stand outside before having to do the dreaded pull and run downstairs as if all the devils in hell were chasing me.

Hated the covers tucked in around me in bed, or my brother jumping on the bed and pinning the covers tightly round me. Also had to sleep with back against wall in case someone came in the room at night and stabbed me in the back??

My daughter hated The Riddlers, actually they've got red hair like ventriloquist dummy so can she why she was scared.

And..............lastly, my husbands impression of Jack Nicholson from the Shining, "Here's Johnny"
