I'm getting bored with my diet, anyone got any recipes to spice it up?
Money is a bit tight at the moment but I still manage to eat well by shopping around. I can buy 2 carrier bags full of fruit, veg and salad from my local outdoor market for less than a tenner, stores like Poundland, B&M and Iceland have been invaluable at times when Ive been a bit strapped.
But even though Im fortunate enough to be able to eat well (when so many are using food banks etc) I would like to try different recipes/combinations of food.
Anyone got any personal recipes I could try out?
(I love hot/spicy stuff but theres only so many curries to concoct)
Thanks.
Also try half a can of supermarket own-brand 'value' chicken-in-white-sauce, heated in a saucepan with the addition of some milk (to thin it down a bit) and some blue cheese (to give it some flavour). [I find that sweeter blue cheeses, such as Danish Blue or Dolcelatte, rather than Stilton, work best]. Pour it all over some value pasta and serve it with garlic bread. Delicious!
Thank you Buen ...and others.
Some very good suggestions which I wouldnt have thought off otherwise, thats what I wanted.
I tend to buy the same foods because thats what I can afford but I know that theres different and novel ways of preparing them, just didnt know how until tonight, thanks all.
(ps, any more ways still welcome)
Dahl(lentils), rice & sausage or chicken, with bottled curry pickle or tomato salsa. Or chapattis from atta flour & water left to rise, roll out & dry fry. (Always fry chillies whole for taste).
Bubble and squeak with a fried egg or a rasher of bacon is one we eat regularly and it's very economical. If you have leftovers use them, any leftover veg plus a potato will do. Otherwise 4 or 5 sprouts and an onion will work. Boil and mash spud add chopped, cooked veg, fry like beefburgers and serve with fried egg or a rasher of bacon - if feeling flush, both!
"Savoury" bread and butter pudding...replace the currants/raisins and sugar with herbs such as chives, plus onions and meat and veg of choice. Top with cheese and bake.( I love cheese added to ANYTHING!).
