NJ, I very well know that people can not be shot without question. I was making the point that some others seem to think it is ok.
Comments describing the grant of right to appeal as '' a waste of time and money''
Or '' He was a drug dealer, the plod that shot him did us all a favour''
I looked for a link and when I found it and read the article I was shocked at the amount of inconsistencies in the police accounts of what happened.
The evidence of the mini cab driver is particularly worrying !.
It is NOT me that thinks the police should be able to shoot people without question, I was trying to point out that some others do seem to think that way.

Yes eddie and the judge was pointing out that no one thinks that the police should be able to issue summary justice like judge dredd. This case has been through a thorough legal process. The family do not like the answer. Are we to repeat the process until they do? Yes there are inconsistencies, yes the plods did not follow process, yes there was some *** covering but the fact remains that they believed he was armed and about to shoot and a court and judge agreed that despite the shortcomings of the police behaviour the police acted legally. That's enough for me.

Something wrong with your supposer then.

Instead of making crass unfounded assumptions about my opinion of a post, why not do me the courtesy of waiting until I reach a decision and post it - that will save you the tedious task of being wrong - again.

I think New Judge has the essence of this issue.

There is a very human and understandable wish on the part of the family involved to have it proven that their relative did not deserve to die the way he did - and that they may indeed continue to press until they potentially achieve a decision which fits that wish.

The legal process has decided that an appeal is appropriate - I doubt that any new evidence will be brought to light, or that the original decision will be overturned - but the legal process will be followed.

My only point is that the family are able to exercise their entitlement to appeal which is granted to them by law, and on that point, NJ and I are aligned.
