Oranges

I bought a net of oranges but they are dry and very hard to peel. Will they cook? Cut up and simmer in water + a little sugar?
Suggestions welcome

When I was a student the only thing we had in our halls of residence bedrooms was a kettle, and I loved boiling an orange in it.
It peeled incredibly easily and was hot and sweet.
Worth a try?
