Have you ever ditched your friends for your partner or a potential one? I don't mean for the occasional night out. Like told your friends you couldn't make it and spent the night with your partner, I mean have you ever started a relationship and isolated friends because you were so involved in the relationship to see it?

If a friend did it to you, would you understand or would you be annoyed?

friends are more likely to stick by you in the long run rubes

Hi there. Yup i'm afraid to say that i have, when i 1st met my partner i fell out with my best freind in a BIG way, she got very possesive with me and kept telling me he wasnt right for me, and it all ended in a big fight with me and her and i ended up in court from it, it was a shame really because we were best of freinds, i know freinds dont stay as close when 1 meets someone special but i wish our freindship didnt end like that.

Hey Bob hunny, I know friends stick by you. I have learnt this. How are you anyway my dear?

Hey Gingerflaps,

Are you and the same partner still together? Do you and your friend not speak at all?

I distanced my best friend when I met my ex. I had been her best friend for 2yrs and we were inseperable. We did everything together and then when I was 16 I met someone and me and him got together and because it was my first big relationship, I spent so much time with him that I didn't make time for all my friends. My best friend moved miles away to be with her family as she didn't want to stay here coz I wasn't really there for her anymore. Then 5yrs later me and my ex break up and I am crying down the phone to the best mate I ditched. We kept in touch but have only seen eachother a handful of times. She is still my best mate and the person who knows me the best. We chat all the time now and I am going to stay with her in a few weeks. She wants me to live with her. I haven't even seen her little baby yet. :o(

I know now that I would NEVER ditch my friends for someone. My friends are my insurance policy. :o)

Yes, I'm sorry to say that I've let friendships lapse because I've been so wrapped up in my partner. I greatly regret that now, as my friends were very nice people, and in the end my partner turned out to be a nasty piece of work. I'd have been better off ditching him a lot sooner and keeping my friends!!
Hi rubyrose, just wanna ay iv been there done that. i totally left my m8 for my one of my boyfriends. she didnt like him - vise versa. so because i was so smitten i chose him-taught she was jealous. Must admit after a year we were still going stong then i realised i wasnt going out anymore, i was isoalted, id lost my best m8. Then he started to become violant, i had no were else to turn so i went to my friend luckly she was a true friend after all and help me get rid of him - she did that for me after i ditched her!?? why i dnt no-my tip hun, dnt ever let ANYONE come in the way of ture friendship x
Nope, I've never done that & never would. I know lads that have though & none of them were happy. If a friend did it to me fair enough, but each to their own. Never forget your mates, nobody is worth it
