We are flying Gatwick to Charlotte (US) next year with the kids.
Now i have only taken them to Turkey, a couple of years back, where the baby sat on our lap and the eldest had his own seat.
This time both will have own seats. But Im now confused as US Airways talk about kids having car seats and boosters that are FAA approved, and yet i dont intend on taking car seats.
I cannot find anything that says whether i have to have them in car seats or not and other members of family that have flown with US airways on same journey say they've never seen a child in a car seat on their flights.

Does anyone know what the rules are?

Easiest and quickest, not ot mention most reliable way of finding out Red is to contact the airline company.
Their website merely outlines requirements for passengers taking their own child seats. There is no requirement for children to be in such a seat.
You can take a car seat if you wish but it`s only by choice. The 5 year old is too big for a car seat anyway. It`s up to age 3 with the CAA. Probably the same with the FAA

I'd be going round and round both the UK and US sites. Not just with that but the fact that it said luggage had to be paid for as a seperate thing.

Finally got to speak to someone and have sorted it all. Thanks
Well, I use the Easycarseat for my older daughter and myself :). I know it sounds silly but we fly quite often and for hours so I prefer to feel comfortable. We just love it. I must mention I am 4'11'' :).
