There is a specific area in India where it is recommened that if you visit, you should take Malarone tablets rather than unprescribed maleria tablets. What is the name of this city or region?

Please check this info with your local travel clinic, but I believe the current recommendations are as follows:

Assam- Malarone or Mefloquine or Doxycycline.

All other areas below 2000m (ie, not in the northern mountains) - Proguanil or Chloroquine.

Hi

I'm off to Goa in 2 weeks, have been given Doxycycline.  I was told that this was the best and most cost effective drug for India.  Doxycycline has the excellent side effect of helping to prevent traveller's diarrhoea plus other bacterial infections too as it's an antibiotic.

Hope you have a good time.
