Is the exchange rate better in Turkey itself rather than changing my pounds into Turkish Lira here in England before I go on holiday?

Sensible comments please from people who really know rather than the usual ....Try googling the exchange rate....type stuff.

Hi Seafarer - I'm off to Turkey on Sunday, as far as i can establish, opinion seems to be to take pounds and exchange in Turkey. I have a little bit of Lira to get me started - bought it from a work mate that returned a few weeks ago. Not too big an issue for me as we are going All Inclusive so I don't expect to be spending much. Hope you have a good time.
my dad goes to turkey 4 times a year as he owns a house over there and he never changes money before he goes, always over there as its a better exchange rate x

Thankyou both that's really useful and backs up what someone told me. Enjoy your holiday Annie.
Make sure you don't have any lira left when you come home. You may as well give it away. Just change small amounts at a time.
Keep english £10 notes, when buying t/shirts etc. 3 for a tenner Asda price or as they say now cheaper than Premark .Have a great time, I love Turkey really nice people Yizzy
