"bit of a late one" ?

Cripes, wbm, it's barely gone half past six !!
Question Author
Morning JJgull xxx lol, It's late for me! How are you?
I'm good, thanks.

Is the heritage centre busy at the mo ?

It must be a damp time of year on the canal.
Question Author
Yes, It is indeed, open at weekends as usual, and gets plenty of visitors! It does tend to get a tad chilly on the water at this time of year. However, the folk who live aboard their boats are nice and cosy.
Yes, I think living on a boat must be very cosy ...

(as long as there was no obligation to do anything daft like ... go to sea! ... because I get really queasy)
Morning wbm & JJ.
(I love going to sea !)
Question Author
Morning Tilly. You're like me, a born sailor.
JJgull, on a narrowboat you don't go to sea. Not twice anyway! You live and cruise on the canals and rivers of the inland waterways, very calm and serene. A wonderful way to relax as you are limited to 6MPH, or 4 knots.
Give me the Tunnel any time.

Or a nice plane.
Morning all my favourite people...woke up with a bra strap missing.. lawks a lordy.. only had Joey in bed with me last night! Anyhoo - parents evening next monday for Gray.. should be interesting...!!! Have a good one..see you on the other side...
Morning, Hippety x

Morning hippy. Have a freat day!
Morning JJ - WBM - I remember family holiday's on a barge... one had a 'list' or is it 'lilt' and my sister Cals fell out of bed every night!! and we all fell in the water (which is quite shallow) (by 'fell' it means 'pushed' when my sister Foff lost her Poldark book over the side and my brother 'fell' in to fetch it) xx
4 knots ... must make water skiing a bit tricky !
Morning all.
Did the recent freeze harm the hulls of the barges?
Question Author
Such adventures are common hippy.
correct JJgull. But with such a tranquil way of life you have to relax and enjoy, the beautiful countryside you pass through, you can stop where you like. you would be amazed at how many waterside pubs there are!
Question Author
Morning sandy. No, they are made of steel. They can take a fair bit of knocking about, although that is not the general idea!
"waterside" and "pubs"

A combination of words just asking for trouble.

Along with, say ... "wet" and "freezing" and "clinging"
Why do the words 'clinging and wet' evoke some nice images in my mind?
Question Author
lol JJgull. It does happen occasionally however. wet and clingy sandy, oh yes!!! for the same reason they do in mine!
Question Author
Serious answer JJgull. Experienced boaters know better then to get kaylined and then try to get back on board! A few years ago at a festival, a party got a bit out of hand and two narrowboats caught fire and one sank. that was an interesting evening!
