Has anyone ever been on this?

Am due to go on an overnight sail and was wondering if anyone would share with me their experiences, not necessarily the overnight trip.
What happens from when you pull up in the car at the ticket booth to when you get off in Holland.
My other half is terribly scared of ships and ferries but it helps if he knows what's going to happen in detail so he can prepare himself mentally

thanks

Thanks Zacsmaster, that's a great.

When you talk about the customs office, what exactly happens there? Do they check what you have in your vehicle? Do you have to fill out forms?

Thanks
Once in Holland you will escorted to the nearest Coffee House and encouraged to have a few Spliffs before they send you on your way !!!!!! LOL
Have a nice Holiday !

We'll have two staffys in the car so that might deter them from delaying us :-)

I spoke to Stenaline on the phone to enquire about the procedure for travelling with pets and explained they both have their pet passports and the woman on the other line said no paperwork would be checked until I wanted to come back to the UK again. I thought that was a bit odd, but hey ho
We travelled by ferry this year (not as far as you though) and customs checked every car in the queue - some not as thoroughly as others but all cars nonetheless, so not always randomly picked vehicles
I've never booked myself on a ferry by foot from my car either, its all done at the gate - your number plate is read by machine as you pull up, passports checked and tickets issued. Then you join the queue where you can get out and use the loo/have coffee/eat

And once you drive on the ferry the rest is as Zacmaster - stairs ot the restaurants etc

hth
Is it a ferry now then?

When I went it was an impeller powered catamaran. Took just a couple of hours to get over, and it was a lovely journey.
