That site above is a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE site.

Very amateurish.

You can always tell when someone has little background of building a web site. Lots of different fonts, lots of different colours, poor quality text, no overall look and feel.

A look that says it has been thrown together without much design.

I am not sure if it is your web site, but suggest you make a proper job of designing it before promoting it.

He's also made some other naff websites too which he's spammed on the site.

The site is a totally free information site promoting road safety and places of interest throught the UK

It has been produced for the enjoyment and benefit of all. Including ungrateful and criticising people. No rererences were made or implied that the site was produced by money grabbing professionals, or that the person who put it together was a professional web developer. I hope decent people will see it for what it is and enjoy the content
There is no content from what I could see.
Question Author
Typical answer that what I would expect from someone so eagre to criticise
I mean no harm but one of the towns that you have covered near me is Bridilington and all I see is "under construction" everywhere.

It would have been better to advertise this when it was complete, as all I can do on there now is to click on your adverts.

You are obviously not a tomtom owner, (what the site is meant for)

POI files on some other sites cost a fortune. Low bridge information for HGV drivers for instance, on one site cost over 10 for that one POI. this site has thousands of poi files totally free. these were put together by an "AMATURE" in his spare time for the good of all. the towns section is ongoing, very time consuming and hard work. It is intended to be an extra benefit when completed. In the meantime I hope people will see it for it's attributes, and not it's faults. If the information was being charged for, or boasting professionalism, then you would be completely justified in your comments. As no such claims are implied, I feel that you are not.
>produced by money grabbing professionals,

I notice you have adverts on the site.

If you were trying to be so helpful why the need for the adverts if not to make money?.

>It has been produced for the enjoyment and benefit of all.

You have chosen to promote this site on answerbank (which I think is against the rules anyway).

If you promote a web site you have to expect people to comment on it, the same as if you send a novel you have written to a publisher.

There is not getting away from it, this is a very badly built site.

There are plenty of books aroound about how to built good web sites so why not read a few before promoting your site.

One main rule for web site design is try to get a consistant look and feel.

Use consistant fonts, dont use different colors all over the place, make your text and icons readable (the text over those hearts is terrible).

You have an advert in the top left for "Direct Marketing and Sales" and I cant even read the web site name at he bottom.

The "title" of your home page is "Template". If I add your web site to my favorites all I get is the word "Template".

Part way down the page you have a section Splash Images, but you have three football badges, and a single picture of the seaside, that just look so awful together.

NEVER promote a site that has "under construction" on it, it looks so amaterish.

This site is just so badly designed it is not true.

I am not sure how you have the nerve to defend it.
>"AMATURE"

I think you mean Amateur.

See the second explanation of the word Amature here

The adverts go a small way to paying for the hosting costs. other than that statement, I am not going into a slanging match with you. If you don't like it, dont go there. No problem. I am not in business or a web developer and am only interested in helping people. that is what this site is for. nothing else. I do not need to justify myself any further
Question Author
That remark says it all. Thank you for your comments
"I am not in business or a web developer..."

Well the first is a lie and the second a contradiction of your claim here...

sorry, I am in business..I am a self employed taxi driver..trying to help others out..why is everyone so eagre to criticise? What is the world coming to?
"The AnswerBank is a general knowledge exchange and is not to be used to market, sell or promote any product, service, project or organisation."

Site Rules
Question Author
No business is being promoted.
this is a totally free information service for "Satnav" owners.
It is promoted in the name of road safety in conjunction with every road safety organisation in the UK except Cumbria.
Tomtom,Garmin, Navman, owners will see it wxactly for what it is.

Small minded people who do not understand "Satnav" will criticise things like my spelling. How sad.
The Site Rules make no distinction about business interests; the relevant phrase is "...not to be used to market, sell or promote any product, service, project or organisation."

Your own description:

"this is a totally free information service for "Satnav" owners. It is promoted in the name of road safety in conjunction with every road safety organisation in the UK except..."
