Anyone have any advice on boarding in the states or canada? Is it any better than Europe? cost? good resorts? etc. Want to go late January with 1 novice and 1 experienced rider. Any good sites to meet other people to get a group together? Been to lots of sites that review resorts but its making me crazy as they all have conflicting opinions!!!!! help..

Late Jan, I would seriously consider Whistler in Canada or if you want U.S go to the Colarado resorts, Aspen is awsome! However saying that I went to Chamonix last season and they had awsome snow and loads of fresh pow! Chamonix might be a little segregated in terms of ability la plagne is the easy run and then you have the difficult darth vader index lift! Its the same price for food etc in Cham as it is in USA but cheap flights to Vancoouver or Toronto can be found at www.flyzoom.com. Easy jet do really cheap deals to fly to Geneva. The night life is kicking in Chamonix also with lots of young people milling about, I am in Chamonix this season so might see you on the index!
We went to Park City Utah last Jan and it was by far the best conditions that I've ever experienced (if you like waist deep powder). I was unlucky on a previous trip to Banff Canada when the snow was quite poor with very little fresh - so I'm not a fan. There are soem real benefits the US & Can have over Europe. The main one is the number of people you'll have to fight with to get to the top of the mountain, European and particularly French resorts are usually over crowded and you can spend ages queuing for the lifts. The best place for snowboard advice is probably Snowboardclub UK at this site http://www.snowboardclub.co.uk/. There's a forum where people will answer just about any snowboard related question. You can contact me there - my login name is roastbeef.
