Hi, I am trying to organise my stag weekend for mid August time (yeah I know my best man should be doing it - he's useless!). I'd really love to go snowboarding with my mates, but am held up by (a) I've never even tried snowboarding before, and (b) I'm based in the UK - most of Europe is no doubt in our reach for the stag weekend, but where could we go during the summer?? All the European ski vacations I can see are (logically) winter only.

Does anyone have any suggestions or could point me in the right direction please?

Snow, as such, is hard to find in Europe in the summer months. Snowboarding is still possible but it should probably be renamed 'iceboarding'. That's because you need to find a suitable glacier. This company has a list of the main options on their website:

Apart from what has been said above the other places where it is available in our summertime are much too far for a weekend & too expensive ie Mammoth Mountain in Oregon, Argentina & New Zealand.

Vancouver area of Canada has year round snowboarding and you can also get cheapish flights from the UK but again it's a long way to go for a weekend. If you want to read about it try here

My boyfriend is going on a stag do to Lapland in June to ski, could this be an option? I was quite surprised but he tells me they always have a lot of snow when other places have none, might be worth a check.

Why not save on the flights and have a great time in the UK.

As such, snow is uncommon in Europe during the summer. Snowboarding is still an option, but it should be called "iceboarding." This is because you need to locate an appropriate glacier.
