It will be my sisters 19th in April and she wants us both to go on a weekend break together. I love Edinburgh - shes never been, Dublin - would love to go but too expensive, London - go all the time. Any other suggestions and what should we do when we get there, I plan to only spend two days - would prefer it to be in the UK. I just want to show her a fun time and that her older sister is still cool. She is a girly girl, im not but I can pretend whilst there =)

Thanks guys

There is lots to do in Brighton.
Zac must have found somewhere better than I did during a two-day visit not long ago - sorry Zacs, Glasgow presented itself as dirty, run-down, with every doorway and rubbish bin used as a urinal / vomit bucket. A very small renovated area did not make up for the rest.
Cardiff is very nice, verylively and lots to do and see.
Newcastle, if you want a great night out.

Even although I may come across as biased I have always found Glasgow to one of the most vibrant cities i have ever been.

Surely in every city there are run down areas.
I have visited most major cities in the UK and also Eorope -most recent -although not Europe -Reykjavik(oop apart from a weekend in Edinburgh last weekend whic as always was brilliant)All have had their good points and you only find bad points if youre a crabbit so and so who doesnt know how to enjoy yourself lol

Ive heard Manchester is a particularly brill place for a weekendaway -only been on business but the people were ace and I daresay the nightlife is even better

Its what you make of it.
Brighton is packed with great nightlife, fun bars, great restaurants and superb bistros. It's offers wonderful shopping opportunities and has loads of places to find live music and fun entertainment.

Chris
Brighton is great though may be one to save for a summer break to make the most of the sea as well.

I visited a friend in Manchester and loved it so much I moved here and still living here now.

There's a great nightlife and loads of shopping with the Trafford Centre and Lowry Outlet Mall as well in Salford Quays (10 mins on the tram).

You could check what's on at the MEN Arena or other venues or go for some pampering and nice food as there are loads of lovely bars and restaurants.

If you fancy something a bit more energetic then there is Chill Factor up near the Trafford Centre where you can do skiing and climbing.
Having travelled extensively throughout the UK during the last twenty years or so I rate Canterbury as my most favourite destination, it is a beautiful, cosmopolitan city, plenty of things to see and do, socially it is brilliant, above all it seemed to me a safe and comfortable city to walk about and pub cruise throughout the evening...........
I recently went to Liverpool for the first time and loved it! The Albert Dock is great and there are lots of things to do and see.
Definitely Edinburgh or Brighton
