How can these increases be justified, especially considering that the fares are far too high now, taking into account the state our rail service is in, dirty unpunctual trains, cancelled trains, crowded trains etc.

It is now cheaper to fly than to go by train, how ridiculous is that?

Rail fares increases every year nothing new there. Very predictable.
The only answer is to go and live in Wales, where pensioners get free travel on local trains.

I heard on news that the government want it to be more the commuters that pay for the upkeep rather than the general taxpayer. Apparently we all subsidise the usage of trains and they want to change that.

Yes completely agree that it is crazy that it is cheaper to fly up and down the country than it is to use a train.
S.E Trains are abysmal. When a train is cancelled from Charing Cross to Ashford Kent the next train is standing room only for people boarding at London Bridge.

So for 1hr and 10 mins you stand all the way home after working 8 hrs... and that doesn't include the underground bit before....

They can't justify the price hike, they simply don't care... what u gonna do about it? who's going to listen? the shredder is their inbox.

I've been on better trains in Delhi lol....

That's ok Gromit, but I couldn't put up with asking for a return ticket to---------

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

Ask for it? I couldn't even pronounce it, and can you imagine how long the ticket would be?
