I found some lovely rose wine in Lidl for half price.....lol
Very nice it is too!
I grin everytime I read your "squeak squeak pop", because it's a very good description!

Icey, even when I open a wine box I still post "squeak squeak pop" because I haven't worked out how to type the sound of me tearing the perforations on the cardboard box.

=0)

I bought 4 bottles Sandra......Well, it was such a bargain, it'd have been a crime to just get one! ;O)
Plus, I'm still in post-birthday mood, so there! How did yours go, my lovely twin?
I`ve got a bottle of rose too but its a screw top and i don`t know how to do the sound effects.
Plock...Shrickkkkkk....glup glup?

Rose should always have a screw top.
Ripple, ripple, riiiipppp!
Perhaps?
birthday was good max, I was at my mate Gills for a great night, well what I can remember :o)), all I know is I was in before midnight....I must be getting old lol...How did yours go? xx
It was fun, even if everyone got the time wrong and I ended up waiting for an hour in the pub by myself! lol I was a bit sozzled by the time my mates came round, so I kept having great conversations with complete strangers! lol Another great thing was that I never had an empty glass, they all bought me drinks all night....:O) you can imagine the state of me the next day! lol

That's quite good, Icey !!
Oh, and my lovely best mate got me a wireless router and dongle and set it all up for me, so now my laptop is wireless so I'll never have to get out of bed again! pmsl!
I preferably would like to pop the cork out.
Here it comes...............THHOOOPPP.
I love the sound of corks popping.
Then the sound of Glug,glug,glug,glug.........
and then gulp,gulp,gulp,gulp.....
Ahhh nice....
It's a shame that some bottles have screw tops.I suppose it's cheaper than corks.
...and better for the trees! By buying this wine, we're actually actively helping the environment. That's the way I see it! ;O)
Good point there max.
I like any kind of wine, although I do have a taste for a nice Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot red. For white wines I like a medium dry white.
Question Author
imhotep ...

... screw caps aren't used because they are cheaper.

They are used because they preserve the pure flavour of the wine without the risk of cork taint, or oxidization.

Who, apart from the stuffy old-world wine producers, would want to drink wine that's had a piece of mouldy old bark shoved in the top of the bottle?
