Further on from yesterday's question, is it necessary for me to give my fingerprints before travelling to USA?

I don't know what your question was yesterday but when you enter USA, you are required to let them scan your index finger.

oh ok. I just didnt know if the fingerprints needed to be scanned in the uk beforehand or if they do it upon arrival into US borders.

wait...index finger? LOL ru kidding squarebear?
Er no. What is it you think I'm kidding about?

They do it upon arrival in the US.
actually, I think they do both index fingers now. It's a scan, not old-fashioned ink fingerprinting, but same principle.

Incidentally, make sure your exit card is taken away from you when you leave otherwise their system will be telling them you've overstayed and become an illegal immigrant - a problem if you try to go back there again some day.
jno - I had that problem and had to write to American Immigration in Kentucky with loads of stuff, copy of passport, copy of boarding card, letter from employer etc to prove that I had left the States.
When I landed in Boston 2 wks ago they took a scan of all fingers and thumbs.
and as well as fingerprints they take your photo
quite long queues but move fairly quickly
you get your passport stamped too!
:)
