Hello,
As my mother and father are both from Naples I thought it would be interesting to get other peoples views from their experiences of travelling to Naples, Italy.

My option is Naples is a beautiful historic city but I think it is ruined by the roads.

The best place in the southern Italy is, in my opinion, Amalfi...oh, and Positano.

Your views but be interesting...

Thank you

My mum really want to go Naples in the summer, what can you get up to there?
i stayed in sorrento on holiday and we took an excursion to Naples to the museum.

I have to say that what we saw of the city was awful. Grafitti everywhere, run down looking houses in the suburbs. We were also advised not to stray from the group when we stopped for lunch as the square we sat in was covered by CCTV and was safe.

I agree that the amalfi coast, Positano, sorrento, Capri are much nicer although we did love going to Herculanium and Pompeii.

Would love to go back and explore Naples itself - spent two days exploring Ercolano and Pompeii last year. Stayed in boring twee sorrento and used the fantastico coastal railway to get about. The archaelogy is without comparison and many shops do fantastically good sandwiches. Franco's in Sorrento - the only caff worth visiting.
Only problem is, that bloomin big volcano will go off again one day and when i does, anyone for miles is dead cos the roads are too crowded for evacuation. Sort of spices up the whole visit doesn't it.
