I've got a full day in Singapore shortly on route to Australia. Has anyone any suggestions on how to see as much as possible in such a short time? I'll be very grateful for any advice. Thanks in advance.

What are you into, shopping, eating, culture (history)... a day is not a long time, and there is a lot of options that could be pursued...

Thanks for the reply. We're interested in history and would like to have a decent meal. Also enjoy gardens and zoos. Hope this helps.
Try searching - this question has been answered extensively before. Highlights include a city tour, cable car to Sentosa, Orchard Road shopping, Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel, Changi Prison museum
Sorry MissMeg I wrote a comphrehensive reply, and as I tried to post it the site hung and I lost my post.

God this site p's me off sometimes for doing this so often.

Perhaps I'll have another go tomorrow. Or can I suggest another website ... http://boards.fool.co.uk/Messages.asp?mid=1085 3115&bid=50959 one that doesn't crash during 1 in 3 posts?

The site has been awful today. Thanks for trying, I look forward to hearing from you if things improve. ATB, Meg
May I suggest the following? Visit the Botanical Gardens (free admission) - plenty to see here including some amazing orchids. Then, get a taxi back to town (taxis are really inexpensive here) and get the driver to suggest a lunch venue off the tourist track. If you like seafood be sure to try the chilli-crab - a Singapore delicacy. A peep into Raffles is worth doing, but their Singapore Sling is not what it used to be. Personally I wouldn't waste time shopping, but duty free prices on cameras etc. are good.

Boat Quay and Clarke Quay are worth visiting particularly by night. Enjoy the trip!
Sorry Meg I'm giving up on this site. Too many people trying to answer quiz questions ('Does anyone know how long it takes to fly ...etc,)' and too many lost posts. My link was to a reliable and comphrehensive board. See you there, or best of luck!
Miss Meg,
Only one answer ... Raffles. Gin slings. then spend your money in Melbourne, the most livable city in the world., Happy New year

Thanks for all your help, very informative. Sorry to Maxi2 for not responding earlier but I've had trouble accessing the site. I will have a look at the site you suggested JonnoGenie, thanks. A Happy New Year to you all.
go to the Night Safari, if you have time.
Night safari may be a bit boring but you might like to spend your day at sentosa but it is under construction for the IR.
It is a must to go there. The botanical gardens just upgraded and its better now.To conclude,1 day is a little too short.

Thaks Diudiu. I know 1 day is not nearly long enough but it's all I've got en route to Aukland. If I like it I can always go back for longer!
