Does anyone know of a reasonably priced policy available (couple) covering scheduled/public transport delays leading to missed departure with cover value as much as 750 for each person. It seems to me the norm for cheaper policies is about that much for the couple - not much if long-haul flights are missed - and unless the delay is due to breakdown, strike, etc. (not simple delay as due to traffic, inefficiency, etc.) there is no cover at all. I am comparing with a policy offered at less than 50 per year.

Don't touch anything underwritten by Axa. I have made genuine reasonable claims to Axa and have had to resort to making complaints to the Ombudsman. As soon as the Ombudsman contacts them they pay up but it's far too much hastle. I moved my policy to NFU but you need to have house and contents with them first. I've heard good reports from Post Office.

Thank you thugulike, I completely agree regarding AXA - after a very unpleasant claim experience I now deliberately check all insurance offers for any involvement by AXA and if confirmed then I go elsewhere. They did pay up but it was a long and testing story of their wriggling and raising obstacles. When it comes to claims, AXA fulfill all the criteria of the stereotypical nasty insurance company.
