If you leave the UK at noon on Sat, then depending on whereabouts in Oz you are flying to, it will be about 10pm Sat night at take off - therefore a 23 hour flight time will mean you arrive approx 9pm Sun night.

On the way home, if you leave Oz at 12 noon on a Sat, the UK time will be about 2am Sat morning, so a 23 hour flight will mean you arrive back in the UK at 1am on Sun morning.

Does that make sense?
I think there is only 1 Qantas flight that leaves the UK at lunchtime (certainly was when I was booking a flight earlier this year). No matter which airline you go with (which is basically Qantas, BA or Virgin for a direct flight) you will leave between 9.30pm and 11.30 pm (we left at 10pm), land in Singapore/Hong Kong/ Bangkok (landed Bangkok 3.00pm local) take off a couple of hours later and land at Sydney around 6am-7am (landed 6.15am). From memory the first flight was 11 1/2 hrs, second 8 1/2 hours. You will then walk through Sydney airport like a zombie!!! So in summary, we took off 10pm Thursday and arrived Sydney 6.15am Saturday.
