The only one I know of and its not a law as such is if you are applying for a council house you get more points once the child is 11 and if they are of different sex, if they are the same sex it seems not to matter xx
Carrying on from what you have said yummymum is that there is no such thing as overcrowding anymore within the council, as livingrooms and dining areas can be turned into bedrooms and there is no limit to how many people to a room.
I was told this by a friend who had contacted the council trying to get them to evict her no good son who had decided to move back in with her (he gave her no choice) and take over her livingroom as his bedroom. She said there wasn't enough room as she already had a son and 2 daughter's including herself living there in a 3 bedroomed house. They told her the above. So it's doubtful that there is a law about overcrowding but you could ring your local council office and ask or someone with a bit more knowledge on here may be able to help you further :o)
Round here once a child is ten they can not share a bedroom with the opposite sex however there seems no limit to the number of same sex sibblings sharing the same room. I know of one family with 5 teenagers sharing same room .
i think it depends on your local council they all seem to be different, i know what i said before is correct with my local council as i have recently looked into this.
a friend of mine went to teh council when she was pregnant and because they had 8 people living in the house she and her partner had to move into the garage and the council said that they had a roof over their heads so it was ok!!!! they were eventually given a house tho. and also another friend left his wife and has been given a new 2 bed house, so just goes to show how differeent councils work!
what happens when youve got a mortgage? do they come and take your kids away!
