Air Travel Delay - Compensation

My whole journey from Dubai to Edinburgh was booked with Air France directly on the airline's website which automatically gave me a connection time for the Paris-Edinburgh flight. I missed my onward connection to Edinburgh because passengers were made to wait on board for the terminal bus to arrive before being allowed to disembark from the aircraft when it arrived in Paris from Dubai. This resulted in over 5 hours delay in reaching my final destination. Air France is refusing to pay compensation under EU rules (ie: refund of price paid for travel) by saying that it is the passengers responsibilty to arrive at the departure gate in time. Obviously they are trying to wriggle thier way out as I fail to see how they can expect me to be on time when I was in transit and delayed from disembarking in Paris by their own airline. Please advise.

That's if you choose not to travel - if it had happened on your outward journey you could have done this and been returned to Edinburgh.

I don't think that you are entitled to compensation and the CAA seem to agree with me

But I'm by no means confident of this. The regulations were written with overbooking and cancellations in mind - their approach to 'mere' delays is obscure.
Flightdelayrefunds is an initiative of Blueway Limited offers refund the flight delay, claiming back compensation for delayed flights and recover from flight problems.
