On the return leg of my journey with Air France recently, I missed my onward connection to Edinburgh because passengers were made to wait on board for at least 20 minutes before being allowed to disembark from the aircraft when it arrived in Paris from Dubai. I was then re-routed via London Heathrow and arrived 5 hours late into Edinburgh. Could someone advise me if, and how much, I should be entitled to financial compensation under EU air travel regulations for the 5 hour delay to my final destination caused by Air France.

But it could turn on WHY you had to wait 20 minutes to get off. If that was beyond the control of the airline you are not entitled to compensation. You are making a big assumption saying 'caused by Air France'.
