Start by looking at the map, here, to get an overview of how things are laid out. (NB: The map appears as a pop-up. You'll have to disable any pop-up blocker to be able to see it):

Then click on the links for Deluxe Resorts, Moderate Resorts, etc, from here, to see which area each hotel is in:

Book tickets and/or accommodation here:

Aagh!

AB has done it again. The system thinks that there's a rude word embedded in that last link, so it's censored it (and it won't work).

No problem: Just click on 'Tickets & Reservations' at the top-right corner of the page which you get to, from the second link, above.

not sure you can get fast pass tickets online nezeezy, although i could be wrong. I was there about three weeks ago and as far as i could see you insert your park ticket into the fastpass kiosks within the park and then youll get a fastpass ticket with a return time on it.

We went to the Magic Kingdom and there were a lot of hotels on the outskirts of the theme park

hope this helps
All the resort hotels are nearby the parks and all have free bus routes to and from every park that run every 10-15 mins. The Disney World Resort is a collection of all the theme parks, a dozen hotels, golf courses, shopping centres and waterparks.

The fast pass system is as explained above, you can only get one at a time per park ticket, and it queue jumps you to very near the front. Other parks like Universal sell their fastpass upgrade tickets, which is a little unfair if you ask me. If you time things right, most of the time you'll only have to queue for 1/2 hour max.
Have a look at a book on Disney, there will be some maps included. The Disney resort is huge. The 4 theme parks are Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM and Animal Kingdom. Disney transport runs between the theme parks and also the Disney hotels. Basically, the cheaper hotels like the All Star resorts are further out and the more expensive ones are closer to the theme parks, so easier and quicker to get to. See if you can find Rita Aero's guide to Walt Disney World, or the Walt Disney world guide for Dummies, they have clear maps. Sometimes it's easier to refer to a book than scoot about online. You will be investing a lot of money in your holiday, best to make sure you know as much as poss before you go.
