I want to take my boyfriend away next weekend, but having trouble finding somewhere. I have about 200 to spend, but all the stuff on lastminute seems to cost like 300+ (each!). I really need some help. I really wanted to go to amsterdam but im up for anywhere, uk or abroad. (ps we are from leeds and newcastle so dont want to go there lol). PS any other suggestions for birthday presents would be good. Thanks

Please help us to help you:

Are you restricted to travelling out on Saturday and back on Sunday or could you travel on Friday and/or Monday?

Which airports are convenient for you? (It's not clear from your post whether one of you is still in Leeds, and the other in Newcastle, or if you're both now living somewhere else in the country).

It's going to be hard to find anything really cheap next weekend because it's the start of the Easter holidays for most schools, so many flights will already be fully booked. However, if you book your flights and accommodation separately, it might still be possible to find some reasonable prices. For example, Easyjet could fly you out from Luton to Amsterdam at 0625 on Saturday morning and back again at 2145 on Sunday evening for about 140 each, including taxes, charges and insurance. You'd only need to add a room for one night onto that.

Those Luton flights are clearly no use to you if you're still living in the north of England. That's why we need the information, requested above, to come up with some meaningful suggestions.

Thanks for the help. Well preferably we would fly from either leeds, newcastle or manchester. He is living in leeds right now but im in the north east. I could fly on the friday but want to be back in the uk by sunday. Hope that helps!
Thanks for your reply.

I think that it might be best to leave Amsterdam for another occasion. The cheapest flights I've found (all with jet2.com) are as follows:

From Leeds Bradford, 165.91 each. That's out at 0700 on Friday (add 20 for a departure at 1800) and back at 1815 on Sunday (add 20 for the 2045 flight).

From Newcastle, 157.91 each. Out at 0645 Friday (add 10 for the 1710 flight) and back at 2120 Sunday.

From Manchester, 159.91 each. Out at 0640 Friday (add 30 for the 1810 flight) and back at 2055 Sunday.

Adding on two nights accommodation and fares from the airport could make it fairly expensive. Additionally, my favourite cheap accommodation website, hostelworld.com, hasn't got much to offer in Amsterdam next weekend.

If you still want to pursue the possibility of Amsterdam, you'll need to decide which of those flights is most suitable for you and seek out some accommodation. (I'll try to find some if you think that there's any point looking). However, I'll assume that you're looking for something a bit cheaper and I'll try other destinations - More to follow ;-)

Yeah thats what i found too. Oh well, will have to think of something else. Someone suggested going on the ferry but really didnt want to do that. Think it may have to be a UK destination now, but you never know might come across a bargain lol

Oh, he took me to Dublin for my birthday, so thats another off the list lol
Aagh! I've just read your post after working out the details of a cheap break in . .. Dublin! Oh well, back to the drawing board! I've not given up yet ;-)

OK, here's a suggestion for you: What about Prague? I've not been but lots of people say it's a great place (and cheap!).

Fly out from Newcastle at 1130 on Friday and back from Prague at 1505 on Sunday, with easyJet. The return fare is 144.48 each, including taxes and charges. That might not seem to leave much for two nights accommodation but there are plenty of cheap, central places available. For example, if you don't mind sharing a bathroom, you can stay at the Charles Bridge Guest House for 10.49 each per night. (i.e. the total for flights and accommodation would be 165.46 per person). For a little more luxury, with an en suite bathroom, you could stay at the Manhattan Guest House for 17.69 each per night. (i.e. your total for flights and accommodation would be 179.86 each).

Unlike some destinations, transfers from the airport won't cost a fortune. According to the airport website, the Airport Express service cost CZK45 (about 1.20), with all other bus and train services charged at a flat fee of CZK20 (about 50p):
