Has anyone ever been to Port Merion? I quite fancy going there for a few days just to have a look at it

I have never been there, but stayed in the nearby area.

You say a few days but I am not sure there is enough there to keep you for a few days, maybe one day.

The town of Porthmadog is nearby, you could say there.

And of course you are on the Lynn peninsula which is a beautiful area.

And near Snowdon as well.
Lovely place to visit, not so good these winter months so try to go when its sunny and it's great.
They filmed "The Prisoner" there and other films and you can see the results as you go around.
I stayed in the Village last summer. Nice (quiet) place to stay, good for a couple of days - bit boring after a while. And as it's estuary (think?) there's no real 'sea-side' feel, if you know what I mean. But very pretty - especially when the rhodedendrons are in bloom - so many different colours!
btw - there were lots of 'walkers' there, so obviously very popular with yompers!
I would spend a few days in the area, spending one day visiting Portmerion, probably all you'll need. It is a lovely place, but you don't really need to spend more than one day there. There are however plenty of other lovely places in the area, so do take time out to visit some of them.
Ab fab place to stay. Have stayed 2 or 3 times in the Peacock Suite at the hotel which is the best room in the hotel. Lovelly setting you can laze in bed with views over the estuary. Food very good at hotel with tables beside the window overlooking the estauary. the places comes into its own when the daytrippers leave and you are free to wander the beautiful buildings etc. be careful walking on the estuary as there are some quicksands which I found to my cost! sometimes this time of year they do special deals with 3 nights for the price of 2. enjoy!
