Is it worth buying alcohol in dublin to bring back to the UK, or is the price more or less the same?

I believe it's slightly more expensive over in Dublin; my relatives always bought the odd bottle over here to take back as it was cheaper, even in the good old days of duty free.

No, not really, the increased airport security states bottles can't be carried in hand luggage and there's no financial saving.
I'd recommend a drink of draught Guiness whilst in Dublin though...it's very different from England.
