Bunch of info on the island here: http://www.iosgreece.com/index.cfm?PageToDisplay=about/ios_island.htm

Island near Santorini in the Cyclades group in case you can't locate it..

It's very much a party island, very popular with backpackers, a high percentage of them being Australian. No airport, so access via ferries only, but a popular stop so plenty of choice. Good beaches (would recommend Manganari), and low cost of living. The cost of an apartment would vary tremendously depending on how long you intended to stay though.

Ios is a marvellous party island in The Cyclades - I went there a few years back and it was fabulous....largely due to the fact that no package operators go there, so those who get there have to have made a bit of an effort.

Its a total party in the main town (Chora) at night and on Milopotas beach during the day. If you like a party with lots of fun different people (lots of Aussies, Kiwis, Americans, Irish, Scandanavians but few Brits) I would wholeheartedly recommend it. If you want peace and quiet, avoid at all costs.

My friends and I had a wonderful time staying at the Hotel Petradi, google it for details - an apartment hotel between beach and town, with excellent views.
