I'm going on my first holiday with my beau in the summer to Cyprus, we are staying in a villa in Phaphos and i am wanting to find things to do, i like sightseeing, walks water sport type holidays etc rather than just relaxing (although i'm sure there will be a bit of that too)

Does anyone have any recommendations? places you've been that were really good etc? and prices of things too would be helpful!

Thanks in advance xcx

there are a lot of things to do in paphos, there are several diving schools, water sports centres ,several ancient ruins and digs, the old town on the hill ,with its market is popular, there are lots of sightseeing trips you can take, into the mountains,or to nicosia, larnaca and most places on the island, prices are cheaper then england, advise you to change money there as you will get a better rate then here,a walk round the harbour at night is nice, boat trips and speed boats to hire, plenty of nightlife,my friends bar Aces is very liely, discos and bars galore,we have a house there and go a lot,we love it.

Turning into a Cyprus-fest on here!.....

Go to the Akamas Peninsular; go to Lara Bay Turtle hatchery; do the Troodos Mountains; PetraTou Romiou for 2 big rocks (you'll see what I mean when you get there); walk the beaches around Polis on the north coast; diving at Paphos and loads of water sports / boat hire if you want; shop in Kato Paphos (old town) and at the Diamond Centre (take a credit card.....); eat at the Willys Rib Ranch on the Tomb of the Kings road; try Manhattans as well; have a meze meal to try all the flavours of Cyprus; hire a 4x4 - you really do not want a normal car for the rough roads around the Cedar Valley and the trip to Lara Bay - like a tank trap for miles on end! One to book before you go here: http://www.petsas.com.cy/ (and check it has a jack and wheel brace before you drive off.....); and just enjoy the place.

Not a lot to add, except that for a small island there's a lot to see and do - we've been going several times a year for about 12-15 years, and have a house there now, and still there are things we haven't done and places we haven't been to yet. I second norman's advice on cash - use a local atm (there are loads of them) and you'll get a much better rate. I've always had excellent car hire from www.zandxcars.com . Call into Thomas's Jungle bar on Tombs of the Kings Road and tell Ilona (the Moldovan waitress) I sent you............

Thanks guys!! Some great advice here! sorry if you've read these type of posts before i just didnt find what i was looking for in the list before i submitted the question!

I cant wait! i'm gonna go google the places you've mentioned now see if i can find out some more! coz all that would probably fill more than just my two weeks!

And thanks for the money exchange tip! will definiteley be doing that!!
Can only repeat much of what the others have said. A trip up the Troodos is a must. The scenery is breathtaking and such a contrast to Paphos. Definitely hire a 4x4 as the roads are awful. Nicosia is also worth a visit to see the Green Line and the UN posts. Coach trips are quite reasonable. Recommend the "shopping" trip which will give you longer in Nicosia. The other trips have a few stops on the way. You can also visit the Turkish side of the island which is interesting. If you fancy a trip a bit further afield while you are down that end of the Med you can visit Cairo - the museum and the pyramids. Expensive but the trip of a lifetime. Whatever you do I'm sure you'll have a great time. The Cypriots are great, The food is excellent - plenty of reasonable family run restaurants on the Tomb of the Kings Road and by the harbour. And don't forget to sample the Keo.
