Are you doing it all in one go? South to north, or north to south? Plan some accomm. at the end so you can turn up and collapse / celebrate. The wee beasties should be mostly away by September.

Yes to the blister packs - pal of mine did it and was moaning at Milngavie...and I know someone who tackled it in wellies......

Are you to camp? Take minimum as most essentials can be got en route, and have athink about how far you want to go each day and carry for that section, not for the whole walk.

If you want the easy method - hire one of the bag carrying services, who meet you and take the packs onto the nextstop...but don't tell anyone when you get home..

Enjoy it!

You won't encounter any mosquitos but you will encounter the Highland midge which is far more annoying.

This is one link with info about the WHW as well

Also, a google search for Highland midge will give other links.

Good luck.

Hangover cures, waterproofs and a good camera!!! Try Shoo! for the midges, the locals swear by it.

The views are stunning at the top of Loch Lomond between Inversnaid and Inverarnan. Even if it isn't raining the ground will be pretty wet in September. Lots of good pubs along the way that welcome walkers, so expect a couple of sessions.

I was once told to prevent blisters - stick plasters on your feet where you might expect to get them before you start walking. Your feet are then protected from the rubbing which causes the blisters.

Sounds logical.

There is an avon lotion that is apparently brilliant for reppelling the dratted midge, think it's called skin so soft (it's not even supposed to be a reppelant, they must just not like the smell!), I've not tried it myself, but I have heard many people rave about it, maybe someone else here might be able to confirm that for you. Good luck, have fun!
