Beautiful beaches, warm, friendly people, alluring scenery... but like all underdeveloped countries, the juxtaposition of wealth against abject poverty is jarring for most people whose own countries have a large middle class...
The only part I've visited is the Iguazu (sp?) Falls - definitely worth a long trip. Visit the Argentinian side as well and be prepared to get wet.

went to goiania on the 17th of feb to the 5th of march,and im booking up asap to visit again, its a beatiful place its inland but the people are friendly the food is the best ive ever had, over all a great place to visit, but check out what vactionations u need this is important.....have a great time....

Rio is a fantastic place to see. Beaches,Sugar Loaf, Corcovada (Statue of Christ) all a must and very enjoyable. But be warned depending on time of year it can be very humid. I remember walking in shirt sleeves when it started raining and you actually welcomed it.
Yes, there are the slum areas but well worth a visit. Don't bother about Santos but take a trip to Brasilia.
