Does anyone have a good suggestion to where I can take a cheap week alone on holiday without my family, where I wont be mobbed by gangs of drunken bums and have to listen to screaming kids?? Thanks in advance!!

What are your hobbies and interests? Would a special activity holiday fit your bill, doing yoga, walking, painting?

And do you want here or abroad? And now or in the summer?

I just want to kick back, switch off and chill out. Take a couple of good books, invest in some dark sun glasses and do nothing for a solid week but worry about whether I'll run out of reading matter! Some time in the summer, possibly abroad, I'm not bothered by travelling alone. But I seriously dont want to go on a singles holiday.. The thought terrifies me... LOL

The most chilled out place I can think of at the mo', is the Cypria Maris Hotel in Paphos, Cyprus. We've been there so many times, mainly in April/May & Sep/Oct - too hot otherwise. It has lovely peaceful, relaxing, lawned gardens, with trees to hide away under, where you can read 'til your hearts content! They also have their own decked sunbed area at the bottom of the gardens, where you can lay & listen to the sea, sun, & birds - bliss!

Then again, it's not exactly cheap! Hope you find somewhere to chill out Satin. Good luck.

Prague or Florence are fantastic. Cheap, great food, and as quiet or loud as you want, as each city has its nightspots which aren't in your face.

There are lots of other places I could recommend Satin, but that particular place holds very nice peaceful memories!
