Yes you do need a passport. If you go to the Post Office when your husband gets home they can fast-track it at an extra charge.Worthwhile getting yours now so you only have the added expense of your husbands.
Are you American by any chance? The fact that you need to ask the question suggests you are. If so I think you just need a valid ID and proof of citizenship, though there is an imminent change in the law that will mean you will need a passport in future. When the change is I've no idea.

Hi,Check out a site I look at a lot...I travel to Jamaica from England regularly but lots of US citizens post on here...www.treasurebeach.net .Click on Forum and then on Search...type in Passports and there is loads of info from previous travellers. The concensus seems to be that there was a trial on this last year but if I read it correctly you need one from Jan this year. You can get a passport within a few days if you pay a fee of $60.There are lots of links...give it a go.Sounds like it might make your life a bit easier when you go.Have fun...I'm soooo jealous!!!

This suggests that the new rules are already in force for the Caribbean:

but come into effect later for Mexico and Canada
