My son has just informed me that his passport expires in March 2006. He is travelling to New York next week and he has been told that he requires six months on his passport. He is panicking - can anyone offer advice.

If he has a UK passport then there is no panic - it just needs to be valid until he leaves the US.

If traveling under the Visa Waiver Program, the passport must be valid for at least 90 days from the date on which the holder enters the United States. If not, the holder will be admitted until the expiration date on the passport

is from the US embassy web site

Not sure Visa Waiver would apply to him, as I think this is for transitting through the country. Contact the US Embassy or the airline for more advice.

I was wrong...

The visa waiver program will apply to him so he will be ok!
