I don't know if you still look at the posts on here but I just wanted to thank you for advice you gave me on travelling to Munich for the Christmas Markets. I went the weekend just gone and had a great time, colder than I expected but beautiful. Will definitely go again, maybe when the weather is a bit warmer. The info on the train system was very handy.

Thanks again

Glad you had a good time! The weather has been very topsy turvey here the past 6 weeks. We had a ton of snow and very cold temperatures down to minus 15 and then it went mild again but with some snow remaining! This week has warmed up again and then yesterday it snowed again!!

I went to a local football match last Sunday (Unterhaching) and it was bitterly cold but the consolation was that it was much colder a week or two before!!! Brrrrr!!!

Did you have any Glhwein to warm yourself up around the market? Did you go anywhere else, do other things etc.? It gets very busy around Marienplatz to Stachus area!!

The summer months are a good time to visit because the English Garden is really beautiful plus the many lakes and the Alps to the south are nice to visit too. Of course there's also the castles to visit as well! Let me know if you want anymore info if you plan on visiting again.

Yes, had the Gluhwein, how could you not, it was delicious. Didn't go anywhere else except Marienplatz Market and walked up to another craft market near Schwabing. That was a nice walk and did'nt take nearly as long as I thought it would, especially after the wine.

We stayed at Le Meridien opposite the Main station and did'nt find it seedy at all (seen much worse here). Rooms were gorgeous and staff were excellent although next time I go I might stay in Schwabing.

Hope to go back around June time with the husband, so I may give you a shout on here for any advice on things to do, see etc.

Opposite Hauptbahnhof is okay, it's just some of the side-streets off that area that are seedy.

The road up to Schwabing would probably mean that you walked past Odeonsplatz and up Ludwigstrasse until it became Leopoldstrasse. Does that sound right? Walking past the university etc? That's one of my favourite walks since it's so pretty!

Yeah, feel free to ask more questions if you visit again in the summer!
