Am about to go to Vegas on a week long stag (what ever happened to a **** up in the Dog & Duck for stag nights?? - another thread maybe, anyway, I digress), there are 10 of us, 8 of whom are reasonably serious gamblers.

I don't gamble, and in fact, have reached my mid-30s and have never stepped foot in a bookies or put a single penny in a fruit machine - I'm not against gambling at all, it just simply doesn't appeal to me.

So, knowing absolutely nothing about Vegas, is there plenty there for non-gamblers to do?

Many thanks

Welcome, by the way! Try to catch the bus or drive out to Hoover Dam. It's about a 45 minute trip southeast of Vegas, and quite spectacular... Check here for facts:

Yep - watch lap dancers
Tons to do. www.lasvegas.com to see whats on. There are loads of shows. Hypnotist, comedy, magic you name it it is here. Some are free, look out for the vouchers in Hotel mags. Seeing you are in your late 30's I think the Osmonds are doing a long run in Vegas.
As the other have said, there is a lot to do, but my husband and I never gamble at home but somehow you get lured into them and it can be fun. You don't have to spend a fortune. Even if you decide not to gamble, go and have a look because the size of them are amazing.

Been to Las Vegas three times now - gambled each tim (20 dsollars in quarters just for a laugh) but never been bored

Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, more shows than you can shake a stick at and the Strip is just amazing

You won't be bored

The trick with the slot machines is to decide beforehand how much you are prepared to LOSE and go to the machines with only that in your pocket.

Change the money into the appropriate coins and keep it in one of the tubs they have. Play the machine/s and put any money you win straight back in your pocket. When your original stake is gone, check what you have won. If you have more than you started with, congratulate yourself on having "beaten the system". If you have less, then you've still had a great time - it's not just the gambling, it's the whole atmosphere of these casinos.

What they would like you to do now is to continue playing - it's up to you. The secret is knowing when to stop. In any case, if you only went with $50 in your pocket, you can't lose more than that.

There are many places to have a beer or two, go down to the old town for 9.00pm to see the free lazer show (not a bad party atmosphere there and you can drink in the streets). As you are on a stag do the paradise club is a great venue to see the dancing ladies (had to visit on a stag do in September). They will try everything to get you to gamble but like me you don't need to to have a good time.
