Usually get mine from this lot:

The Post Office is usually quite good if you order online (because you get a better rate than directly over the counter):

Marks & Spencer are often among the best for deals on the High Street.

Despite usually having to pay fees, you often get a good deal overall by simply using overseas ATMs. That's because the exchange rate is generally around 5% better than you get from any exchange facility, so that can negate the fees.
Surprised at NJ, dabbling in the Devil's currency!

thank you all for your help
I'm going to M&s later today
Yes, M&S rates are good if you are an M&S card holder
If you are going abroad to a euro country just get them out of a cash point when you need them or pay by plastic. No commission to pay and no pockets full of notes.
Yes, we only use Euros for drinks in cafes/bars and on some markets. We use credit card for most purchases. It's so much easier
Few places outside the EU accept payment in Euros.
Ha- well-spotted, O_G.
I had to read the OP again to see it

That's what I thought as well, (having problems getting rid of Euros)
Agree with the ATM route, if you have time ,shop around for one of the cards with low or no fees.
If you are going to get them in advance again shop around, take into account rates and commission. Couple of years ago needed a largish amount for a wedding present, saw a rate of 1.25 in co-op commission free, wandered over to Thomas Cook and asked for their rate, 1.23 no commission but when I told them of the Co-op rate 'forgetting' to mention the commission they immediately matched the rate commission free.
