Okay i'm flying out to tenerife this week and as usual have left things to the last minute!
Does anyone know what the exchange rate is for euros from if you draw them out from a uk atm? The banks called "raphaels bank"
otherwise where is the best rate and place to get them that is open tomorrow (bank holiday monday!)
One more q, is it better to draw out money from the atm when you're there or get them here? I thought about taking pounds but then i don't want to spend my break searching for banks when i could be in the spa or topping up my tan :)

I'm in london tomorrow btw so can travel anywhere on the tube network
There are several exchange 'shops' close to Victoria station giving a much better rate than any of the banks.
I don`t know which airport you are flying from but have a look at Travelex`s website. I order mine on there and pick them up at the airport on departure. I don`t know if there is a minimum timescale but I would think they could do it in 24 hours.
ATMs in the UK that dispense euros are few and far between and I suspect give an awful rate

Thanks all i'll get them today either at victoria or at the airport
You can always get them when you arrive at Tenerife

Grasscarp but will i be horrendously exploited?
You could try using this link to search for best rates. You can order online now, print off a voucher and collect in London from a variety of places depending on your location. Or click the airport button for collection there instead.

We go to Tenerife a lot and always find the exchange rate is better there than here, often with no commission either, so we take sterling with us. Where about are you heading? Can recommend good exchange places around Los Gigantes/Playa la Arena
I always use ATMs abroad. My bank (Halifax) dont charge for using debit card abroad. I suppose it depends on who you bank with Henrietta.

Losgigs i'm heading to Los Cristianos
Grasscarp i'm with tsb
Looked up TSB and not good

If you choose to withdraw cash using your Visa debit card abroad, there are charges that you need to be aware of;

•Where TSB are required to convert the withdrawal to sterling we will apply a non-sterling transaction fee off 2.99% to the value of the withdrawal and a non-sterling cash fee of 1.5% (min £2, max £4.50)
•Where you elect for the ATM owner to make the conversion into sterling we will only apply the non-sterling cash fee of 1.5% (min £2, max £4.50). If you choose this option the ATM owner may make a separate charge for the conversion

Thanks for researching for me grasscarp, i'm pretty rubbish when it comes to walls of text in banking mumbo jumbo.
What kind of charges would the tenerife banks charge? if it's something like 5 euros then i could handle that and just draw out a large sum (200 euros) or so to make it worthwhile
Tried to find out on line. Most people say no. If an outlet charges a fee they have to tell you first and give you option to not continue (as applies in uk)
