I have two different families visit. One will only eat when I throw it on the ground about six inches away, the other will eat out of my hand, and actually let me stroke his nose after.
Interesting the alpha male who feeds will not let any of the others take the food I throw.
I try all sorts of different methods like I give him a treat at the same time I throw something to another one but they nearly always spot this and chase the other deers away.

Great, Caran! You're lucky to be "in touch" with them. I can never understand why some people go out to hunt and kill these fine animals, and even call it a sport!
