Are there any van hire companies in London (pref. in East London) where I can hire a van on a Saturday and return it either late Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon?

Not sure if they will cover east London, but try SuperVan in Brentwood, Essex : 01277 366602. They deliver to you and collect also, so no hassle. Have used them a few times and been very pleased.
