OH tends to wander off and doesnt think to look for me. He cant text.
I used to think my OH cant text. He can, but not to me!

Sqad have you seen the size of these cruise ships ? The ship has around 4000 people on board. My husband tends to vanish in a puff of smoke when we go to Tesco so I dread to think what would happen on a cruise.
boxy.....what a sensible answer.

I would presume smurfy and OH share a cabin........most cruises give 2 cabin keys.

Why not meet up at your cabin........?
Go to the information desk and ask them to make an announcement, "will Mrs Cruiser meet Mr Cruiser in reception area etc shouldn't be a problem or as previously suggested arrange a meeting point!
But how does the OH know that the other one wants to meet up at the cabin?

I say, wait for meet up at lunch.
Ah but they need to know they are supposed to be meeting up, otherwise one spends all their afternoon having a whale of a time flitting around the ship whilst the other sits fuming in the stuffy small cabin right next to the engine room waiting for them to get back.
Have you thought of a large ball of yarn ? Tied to each sleeve ?
What a palaver.........
I agree, Sqad.

I would be the one fuming in the cabin cos OH has gone up in a puff of smoke and is not worried about me in the slightest. Then he will start talking a load of rubbish to some stranger for half an hour, etc etc. the possibilities are endless.
I look for a big group of women giggling and there I'd find him, right in the middle telling them stories.
when the family went on a cruise because of the 2 keys we used to meet back at the room or we would arrange a meeting place depending whereabouts on the ship we were (saving a great deal of walking if you are at the other end!!)

Thanks all, I will have a stern word with him before we go. Now I will trawl the web for those walkie talkies ( just in case).
they sell cheap ones in argos (plus you can get incredible hulk/spiderman ones :))
The last time we went on a cruise it took us the first week to find our way round the ship but we stuck together. If we had parted we would just meet up back at the cabin after doing our own thing. He'd probably find me in the foyer with my Kindle any way!
Do these ships not have wi-fi then?
If you tried to use a walkie talkie on board a ship you'd probably have it confiscated. The use of any form of radio transmitting equipment normally requires a licence. The UK has allocated a very small part of the radio spectrum for unlicensed use by walkie talkies but that relaxation of the rules won't apply in international waters or in the coastal waters of other countries.

Further, all radio transmitting equipment produces 'side bands' and 'harmonics', meaning that some of their transmitting power ends up on frequencies other than the intended ones. With modern ships relying heavily on radio equipment for radar, communications and navigation, a ship's captain would almost certainly take a very dim view of the use of any form of transmitting equipment on board, as it could interfere with the ship's systems.
Yes but at huge expense. Wouldn't you think it would be free like most hotels these days!

Wifi on Royal Caribbean is around $50 a day. So best to use ipad or mobile on shore and live without it on board. Didnt realise walkie talkie could be prohibited Chris ...
