Hiya, can anyone recommend a really good mosquito repellent. I will be going to Hong Kong and Japan soon where i know HK has a lot of nasty mosquitos. I have heard of Autan and is wondering if anyone has tried it and if so is it any good? I always get bitten on my leg. So if anyone can recommend any good mosquito repellent i would be very grateful. Much appreciated! Thanks! x

Apparently if you eat Marmite, when you sweat it seeps out in your sweat and mosquito's hate it. Its meant to work as a repellent.

I'v never tried marmite, i'm not sure if i like it or not lol. I need to know if there's any good spray repellents around. Thanks!
My sister always goes to Scotland for her holidays and had years of getting eaten by the midges up there.  Having tried other sprays without too much success she found Avon Skin So Soft to be the most effective.  I've searched for it on Ebay tonight to get some for our holidays.  I think she started off using anything in that range but they do repellent sprays and sunscreen/repellent sprays.  It is claimed by some sellers that it's so good the SAS use it!  I have also seen it recommended in magazines and on websites so I'm definitely going to give it a try.
take a tube of arnica with you..then if you do get bitten smear some arnica on the bite and next day all the symptoms will have gone its amazing stuff..i recently had an allergic reaction to a bite my leg came up like a balloon..fortunately i had some arnica i used it and the swelling and redness had gone down next day..lavender oil is another good thing to take with you..and also tea tree..put some in your bath and it will help to protect you..
Apparently, one of the things that attract mosquitos to you is perfumes of any kind - deodorants, aftershave, perfume, scented body lotions etc. I used to be a feeding ground for these foul creatures but all I wear now is unscented deodorant and it has worked like a dream. Try using a repellent as well but no perfumes really do make a difference. Enjoy your trip!
I've also heard about Avon's Skin So Soft being a great mozzie repellent. If you do get bitten, I swear by Tiger Balm. It smells like a right old oddity, but if you come out in a big red lump (like I do), it reduces the swelling and redness down to the size of the initial bite. Much less unsightly, and stops the itching too.
