You are becoming incredibly tedious, now, TWR.....

I have seen no-one suggest that Philpott deserves anything less than a lengthy jail sentence. Personally, I don't think he deserves to be 'put down', but don't let that stop you banging on about Human Rights, etc.

no, he should go to jail for life.

Since the Homicide act of 1957, this crime would not have been punishable by the death penalty anyway.

And he is only to be sentenced for the manslaughter of his children. He has already been sentenced and served the sentences for the other crimes of which he has been convicted. Although undoubtedly his violent nature will be taken into account by the Judge. It is quite possible that he will get a discretionary life sentence or an IPP. I do hope so.
I don't expect his fellow inmates will give much consideration to his human rights anyway TWR.
That's right

Because we are better than he is

Activex and TWR

Your liking for killing people puts you a lot closer to Philpott than I am thank heavens
-- answer removed --
definitely life sentence, leave him in solitary, plenty of time to reflect
Nicely put, Zeuhl.
IPP = indeterminate sentence for public protection
indeterminate prison sentence.

If it is not appropriate to murder people as an individual then it is not appropriate to murder people who have done that by means of the death penalty.
/still say that C.P. does not work?/

'work' in what sense do you mean?

as a deterrent? Plenty of evidence it doesn't 'work' in that sense

'work' as a way of demonstrating we hold human life as cheaply as the convicted?

or 'work' as a way of ensuring that people who are wrongly convicted can't be brought back -

Yes, plenty of evidence that Capital Punishment does that
And of course, what happens if in 10 years time, once we've hung him, someone pops up and says 'actually, it wasn't him, it was me'.

Miscarriage of justice does happen.
That doesn't matter Evian. As long as the pitchfork wielding "hang em high" brigade get their pound of flesh, it matters not that an innocent man could hang.............

"Better that one innocent man should hang rather than 10 guilty ones go free........." ????!!!!!
