Gonna book a holiday to Weymouth (Dorset) as the kids suffer from travel sickness on long journeys I wondered how far is it from here (Southend)& roughly how long will it take?

I'd say 4 hours
Try AA route finder or google maps.
google maps will tell you

Right click on your home address and select "distance from here"

Then right click on where you want to get to and select "distance to here"

It will draw a line between the two places and tell you how many miles and how long driving time.

ummmm, Why?

jem
190 miles and between 3.5 and 4 hours with stops on top of that.
Because that will give you an authoritative answer Jem. I've just checked, its about 191 miles and time stated 3 hrs 43 mins
>>>ummmm, Why?

Because when you know how to do it yourself it will save having to ask on forums like this.
Because it will tell you how long it takes. You put in your start location and your destination. It also gives the directions, speed cameras etc
I think 4-5 hours taking stops. We used to set off over night from Yorkshire and stop at a few service stations, and have a nap on the way down. Love Weymouth we always went in Jul/August and had lovely weather, safe beach for the children and lots of interesting places to see. Hope you have a great time. We made friends with a few of the locals and still keep in touch.
Southend is in Argyll on the Mull of Kintyre.

Thankyou all you're v/kind.
Perhaps you didn't know that
I am partially sighted & maps & the like look like Gobble-de-gook to me. My sight aids on my PC are not good with maps either.

jem
It's not maps (although you can view maps) It says A - B approx 3.5 hours. The directions are in list form like a sat nav. 'At the end of XYZ road, turn left' etc.
I live in Weymouth so be prepared for our town centre 'intelligent' traffic lights!
Do you Matt? I live in Crossways!
Us southerners are in the minority I feel.

Thanks Ummmm, I came on here (Answer Bank) because I knew it would be easier than me faffin about, knowing how helpful the ABers are. Laziness on my part really. sorry.
Matt, I'll bare your tip in mind. Tah.

jem
You wouldn't need to look at the actual map on Google maps/directions though Jemisa. As Ummmm has said, you just put in your postcode and then the postcode of where you are heading. It will tell you the mileage and time it'll take to get there. If you can read AB, then you'll have no problem in reading that :-)
