Just wondered. The usual abbreviation for December is DEC so I wonder why railway tickets use DMR

not sure, but maybe cos they always use three letters for their abbreviations........
er is DEC not 3 letters?
do they use any vowels?

DEC probably means Diesel Engine Conductor and the term is vigorosuly defended by the relevant Union.

It's the Aptis system .
DD.MMM.YY format. Months are rendered as follows: JNR, FBY, MCH, APR, MAY, JUN, JLY, AUG, SEP, OCT, NOV, DMR.
