I do love our country most of the time. What I can never understand is why some areas in big cities have been allowed to become virtually no-go ghettoes. Why is stuff like that never dealt with? and now it's probaly too late. I fnd it incredibly sad. I'm just SO glad I live where I do.

yes , we are a free society horse, when you see the troubl in the Arab world and the clamp downs, we are very fortunate indeed
I wonder if in 50 years time, people on AB will be having a 'Remember' thread about this moment in time and having such good memories - I very much doubt it.
I did try to submit a post but it's in the ther somewhere.

It was along the lines of I like living in a democracy where you can slate politicians without fear of being dragged off in the night and never to be heard from again.

I would much rather talk about the good thing Zebadee , as I definitely don't want an immigration issue on this thread
I say we swap with a caribbean country!!!!
I think it's only when you move abroad that you realise the things we take for granted in the UK. The NHS, the freedom of speech, womens rights and so much more. We have the Seasons and most of all, I think we have a spirit that enables us to help and feel for those less fortunate than us. I like to travel, but I love to come home :o)

I'm the same Mazie - after a couple of weeks away, I am ready to come home.

^^ agree with that mazie.

Wouldn't it be nice if we became a floating island and could paddle off to the Caribbean for a couple of months?
Whoops forgot my hopes etc..... I don't think I have that many. I'm looking forward to finishing work and moving to Scotland and seeing my kids and grandkids happy....Oh and one day I'm hoping to complete the Times crossword
