We will be going to Sluis in a couple of weeks for a couple of weeks and wondered if there is anything we should be aware of when driving in holland or places we must visit, things we must do whils there? Although we have never been to Holland we are very familiar with driving in other parts of europe.

We had a holiday in Sluis many many years ago, but I don't know what it's like now. You are relatively near to the beaches at Dunkerque - I went with my mother and she was very keen to see where the soldiers were rescued from, in the war.
yes - cyclists big time and in 98% of incidents they win.
have a look here

and click on Netherlands. There's nothing unusual.
just the cyclists - ok they have plenty of cycle paths but when they are on roads and crossing them, thats when accidents occur - especially on turning right when they can be right in your blind spot.............and I am serious, clobbering them is not recommended.

Also, just like elsewhere, Dutch police do like to book foreigners (Germans being their favourite).
I lived there for 4 years.......so should know.
i was wondering if you need a reflective vest and/or warning triangle or any other stuff in the car, which you do in france, and came across this which may be helpful:

you may need to check that if you wear specs, you may need to carry a spare pair. also a replacement set of bulbs for the cars headlights.
The reflective vestS etc are EU law - though not every country has got round to enacting local laws implementing it
Agree with DT - difficult to avoid the cyclists ( and the Dutch DO like their bikes) and , if there is an "incident", the cyclist is deemed to be in the right.
