How can I challenge my solicitor's fees? They are extremely high for very little outcome. I also need to transfer the house deeds into my name, they are already 95% mine but to transfer the 5% which is in the divorce setttlement. Do I have to use another solicitor and is there a fixed price for this work?

It is part of the Law Society code of conduct that solicitors advise their clients upfront before costs are incurred what the charges will be, or (if not possible that way) what the methodology for making the charges will be. So one hopes you haven't enaged without getting this in writing.
Rates for high-street qualified chaps are around 100-150 per hour, I reckon - it is priced by time, not by outcome.
